This raft design is intended to ramp up the ride in Class III/IV whitewater. It has plenty of tracking and speed for cutting your way through troubled waters- but also a sudden substantial rise to the bow rocker which amps up the splash off the bow as you go through waves.
The first Splash (XIII) was designed for the Pigeon River in Tennessee and was 13 feet long. And was intended for 6-8 folks.. And then that shape was adapted to a 12 foot version for commercial outfitters on the Lower Yough in Pennsylvania. The Splash XII is for 4-6 riders.
There are thousands of pictures of smiling rafters in Splash rafts on these rivers- so we know we got something right. And with our durable urethane shielding on the botttoms and half-way up the sides of the tubes these boats are Industrial Duty!
The XIII was also the official raft of the 2001 World rafting Championships held on the New and Gauley Rivers in West Virginia.
